American playwright David Henry Hwang has been announced as chair of the American Theatre Wing, while Lucy Liu, Patti LuPone and Liesl Tommy are among newly appointed celebrities to the advisory board.

Hwang commented on his new role 'I am honoured to serve the American Theatre Wing as it celebrates a century advancing excellence. Through its wide range of programmes and activities, the Wing supports the vitality and diversity of theatre in our nation. I will do my best to help build on this iconic legacy'.
